After studying this unit, you should be able to:

1. Describe the consequences of passing electric current through human body,

2. State and recognise the colour code of cable and flex,

3. Calculate the current drawn by an electric appliance,

4. Select the appropriate fuse and flex,

5. State all that is required for proper flex routing and making proper connections etc.,

6. Explain the importance and procedure of earthing,

7. Explain different types of dangers from electricity and related equipment ,

8. Describe high and low pressure gas hazards, and

9. List the precautions to be taken to prevent gas hazards and steps to be taken in case of a gas leakage in the laboratory.
