Newton's Law of Gravitation

In 1687, Newton did not "discover" gravity but he did figure out that gravity is universal. It makes a ball fall when you drop it on earth. It also keeps all the planets falling around the sun in their orbits. Any object in the universe pulls all other objects towards it. For example, the sun and the Earth are pulled towards each other by gravity. The size of the force pulling on them depends on their masses and the distance between them. The larger either of the masses get, the larger the force gets. The bigger the distance gets, the smaller the force gets. To calculate the force of attraction in Newtons,

Force = G (m1m2/d2)

where G = 6.67 x 10-11 Nm2/kg2, m1 and m2 are their masses in kilograms, and d is the distance between them in meters.

So why is it that the Earth revolves around the sun and not the other way around? The force on the sun and the Earth are the same, but the sun is much more massive, so the force does not accelerate the sun like it does the Earth. So, the sun stands still and the Earth revolves around it.
