Many endangered plant species are currently being propagated by commercial growers and botanical gardens and the sold (as both plants and seeds) to government agencies. Conservation organizations, garden clubs, and the general public, who then in effect create a new populations of these legally protected species. There is little or no regulations of these sales or subsequence planting. What do you see as the advantages and disadvantages of this widespread activity? Should the government more closely regulate the propagation and planting of legally protected species? Why or why not?
