Restricted Food Items
Foods to be avoided by diabetic patient are carbohydrate and fatty food. Carbohydrates are classified into sugars and starches. As you have studied in under metabolism, all carbohydrates are converted into glucose. The energy requirement of the body is fulfilled with carbohydrates and therefore, it is important to eat carbohydrates. But only moderate quantity of carbohydrate should be consumed by diabetic patient. Food that contains high carbohydrate should be avoided. Fatty Foods provide calories to the body but they are of less nutritive value. (Fats lead to obesity and clogging of the blood vessels and therefore, they are more dangerous than carbohydrates. Fat should be consumed in moderate quantity by a diabetic patient.
