Name the materials used in case of Solder and give reasons.
Solder: For soft solders tin, lead (in 50-50 ratio) alloy and for hard solders copper- zinc and silver alloy (in several proportions) are used due to their good electrical conductivity and low melting points.
For example:
(i) Soft solders: 40 percent Pbt and 60 percent Sn
(ii) Tinman's solders: 38 percent Pbt + 62 percent Sn
(iii) Plumber solders: 60 percent Pbt and 37.5 percent Sn + 2.5%
Antimony likewise lead silver cadmium silver and tin-zinc solders and so on.
