Q. How do the muscles of the legs and of the feet contribute to the venous return?

The muscles of the legs mainly the muscles of the calves compress and contract the deep veins of the legs impelling the blood to the heart. The plantar portion of the feet retains blood and when it is compressed against the ground it impels its blood volume and aids venous return.
