Molisch's Test - Test on Glucose

This is a common test for carbohydrates. Three or Two drops of alcoholic solvent of α-naphthol are involved to 2mL of glucose solution. 1 mL of concentrated H2SO4 is mixed carefully all along the sides of the test tube. The making of a violet ring, at the junction of two liquids illustartes the existence of a carbohydrate.
