Q. Method of construction - Plant layout?
Plant layout is influenced by the intended method of construction, whether the plant is being constructed on-site, or whether modules will be fabricated elsewhere and then assembled on-site. Modular design is popular when considering remote sites, severe weather and the availability of a skilled labor force. Project schedules can be shorter because site civil works can proceed in parallel with module fabrication, and site assembly can be done in more favorable weather conditions.
Modular construction requires a separate design approach; it's not effective to design by conventional methods and then divide it into modules. When locating package units, position a corner that should be considered a fixed point; this allows the unit to grow "away from" if the size should increase. Always check personnel and vehicular access to motors, bundle removal, instrumentation and other features within the package are consistent with the recommendations within this document.
