Indicators to compute sustainable tourism are still in their infancy although the United Nation World Tourism Organization and other organizations are making sporadic efforts to development them (Choi and Sirakaya 2006).
Using relevant examples to explain your arguments, analyze the role of indicators in the measurement of sustainable growth.

Since 1970's economic restructuring and the farm crisis have severely reduced rural communities' economic opportunities. Older development strategies such as manufacturing became obsolete and less viable. Many rural areas looked for non traditional ways for sustaining their economies.
