Manufacturing of optical fibres by double crucible method, Physics

Assignment Help:

Understand the manufacturing technique of optical fibres by using double crucible method.

In double crucible method the inner platinum crucible has core material into molten form when the outer platinum crucible has cladding material into molten form. Such two crucibles are surrounded through a furnace. At the bottom of every crucible, where are circular nozzles that are concentric.

While the temperature of the crucibles is raised by using the external furnace, the core material flows by the inner nozzle whereas the cladding material flows by the outer nozzle. The emerging fiber passes by the plastic coating bath and curing oven. It provides a protective coating of plastic over drawn fiber.
