Q. What are the main opportunistic diseases that can affect AIDS patients?

Among the opportunistic diseases that affect HIV contaminated people during the AIDS stage some are: systemic candidiasis and mucocutaneous, Kaposi's sarcoma (blood vessel tumors that result in darkened spots on the skin and internal organs), cytomegalovirus infection, tuberculosis, pneumonia by the fungus P. The Carinii (pneumocystis pneumonia), toxoplamosis, herpes, and so on. Few other opportunistic diseases are: aspergillosis, salmonellosis, histoplasmosis, cryptococcosis, isosporiasis, lymphomas.
