Mostly, piers constructed monolithically with bridge deck are gainful in the following ways-
(1) Movement of bridge deck is achieved by t bending deformation of long and slender piers. In this way, it keeps construction cost of bearings by using monolithic construction connecting bridge deck and piers. Additionally, it is not basic to spend extra effort to design for drainage details and access for bearing substitution. On other hand, in protection aspect substantial rate and time savings can be obtained by using monolithic construction in its place of using bearings as bridge articulation.
(2) Monolithic construction possesses shortest effective Euler buckling length for piers since they are fixed supports at interface between bridge deck and piers.
