Interfacing of keyboards, Computer Engineering

Assignment Help:

Q. Interfacing of keyboards?

The keyboard employs a special Input/output port which is similar to a serial port however doesn't explicitly follow the RS-232 serial port standard.  In place of multiple data and handshaking signals as in RS-232 the keyboard employs just two signals by which it manages a bi-directional interface with its own set of commands.

Employing its elaborate handshaking mechanism keyboard and PC transmit commands and data to each other.  USB keyboards work in a different way by using USB coding and protocol.
