Interface between base plates and footings

Surface of footings is generally quite rough so that some levelling has to be carried out for base plates. Interface between base plates and footings after levelling is later filled with grout. At the time of grouting, trapping of air can take place at the underside of base plates and this results in the formation of cavities and uneven contact surfaces on that base plates are rested. Some holes can be drilled in the base plate to avoid occurrence of air trapping.
