The following checklist is a starting point and it may be added to if subsequent inspections and debriefs indicate that this would be beneficial.   It should always be remembered that the checklist is only an aide memoir for officers so that they do not forget to look at all the issues that should be considered during the inspection.  The checklist is not the main element of the inspection, it is merely a supporting part.

Is the system serviced by suitably competent engineers?

Does the fire alarm panel display adequate information and is there a plan

close to the panel so that the area of operation can be quickly identified?

Is the layout of the installed or proposed detection suitable for the layout

and use of the building?

Is the provision of sounders adequate to meet the required audibility levels?

If there are visual warning devices, are there a sufficient number and are

they suitably located so that everyone will see them operating?
