In Dreamweaver, you may directly type content into a layout cell, or you can cut & paste content from another document in a layout cell. In this unit, you will insert text to the layout cell through copying & pasting content from an existing text file into a layout cell.
1. Select File > Open; then, within the Compass_Site folder, open DW4_HomeText.txt.
The DW4_HomeText.txt document opens within a new Dreamweaver Document window.
2. Within DW4_HomeText.txt choose the first two lines of text, "Fly Fishing" by "ravioli."
3. Select Edit > Copy to copy the text.
4. within the my_CompassHome document, click on the first layout cell in the text- description layout table.
5. Select Edit > Paste to paste the text in the layout cell.
6. Within DW4_HomeText.txt choose the next two lines of text, "Level 5 Rapids" by "Siberia."
7. Select Edit > Copy to copy the text.
8. Within the my_Compass Home document, click on the second cell within the text description layout table.
9. Select Edit > Paste to paste the text in the layout cell.
10. Within DW4_HomeText.txt choose the last two lines of text, "Puget Sound Kayaking" through "Puget Sound."
11. Copy the text, and then paste it into the third cell in the layout table.
12. Close DW4_HomeText.txt, and then click on the my_CompassHome.html to make it the active document.
