Importance of reliability engineering, Computer Networking

Assignment Help:

The progress of any industry and indeed countries as well, today is linked to the effective performance of its equipments, processes and systems. Reliability engineering, not only encompasses the operation of machines, but also includes software, engineering systems as well as social or public systems and methods of implementation.

All scientists, engineers and industrial and government personnel need to get involved in Quality systems, by learning the principle of reliability engineering and by applying these principles in their daily effort. It is not good if a product performs its function as specified for a period much shorter than the mission duration, and then fails. It is the responsibility of reliability engineer to assure that the product functions without failure at least for the desired length of time.

In   modern   society,   practically  everything    is  dependent  on  reliable operation of machinery, equipment, appliances, and if there is failure, its quick restoration is important. Hence, reliability and maintainability are essential. Here is where reliability engineering comes in: to design, develop, manufacture, and deliver these products and the required spare parts to the users in such a way that desirable, high reliabilities are actually exhibited by all equipments and products during their lifetime with high confidence and at competitive costs.

In summary, we need to have

PRIDE = Put Reliability In Daily Efforts.

 APPLICATIONS AND BENEFITS

The major activities that are involved in the implementation of a comprehensive Reliability programme include studying and analysing failures; and based on the findings to implement corrective actions. This is a cyclic process, leading to continuous improvement, The various activities recommended and their ensuing benefits are listed below
