Water, as you are well aware, is the most common substance on earth which is essential for life. Plants require water continually to satisfy their evapo-transpiration (loss of water through dissimilar parts of plants like, leaves etc.) requirement, as solvent and for many reactions. The water requirement varies depending upon the atmospheric conditions and nature of plants. Water content of soil can be expressed on mass basis or on volume basis.
