Illustrate about the Chemical disinfection

Sharp waste may cause injury and person may have diseases like Hepatitis B, Cand HIV/AIDS. Therefore it is important for to understand that while giving a insulin injection do not puncture your finger. And dispose off the syringe and needle carefully. Waste Sharp should be dispose off in a puncture proof Blue/White container. Chemical disinfection is mainly used for sharps. Commonly freshly prepared hypochlorite solution is used. Chemical disinfection of waste at points of generation is the best option for disinfection of sharp waste.

The needles can be destroyed by needle destroyers or by using syringe melting and disposal system. The manual needle cutters use a stainless steel blade and the electrical ones use a platinum plate, which is heated to 800°C and melts the needle.

Mutilated needles should be disinfected in 0.5 chlorine solution for about 30 minutes at the point of generation and then sent for shredding. Blood or urine should be treated with chemical i.e. hypochlorite solution before disposal. It is accomplished by using 10ml sodium hypochlorite per 100ml of blood i.e. 0.1 ml/ml of blood. Blood and urine to be drain in the severe line.
