Fifth Generation (1984-1990)

The advancement of the next generation of computer systems is characterized majorly by the acceptance of parallel processing.  Until this time parallelism was limited to vector processing and pipelining or at most to a few processors sharing jobs. The fifth generation saw introduction of machines with hundreds of processors which could all be working on different parts of single program.
