Identification of the requirements of a fuel system, Electrical Engineering

Assignment Help:

An automotive manufacturing company is planning to bring out a new model of a compact car for the Indian market. One of the critical tasks is choosing an engine with a proper engine management system to meet the future regulatory demands with respect to fuel efficiency and pollution control for this car. Various options available are required to be evaluated to freeze the design specifications of the car including the engine.

Problem statement

In the above context, the student is required to review various petrol and diesel engines and engine management systems used in modern  automobiles, particularly in compact car segment. Study related information available from various sources.

Applying this knowledge, prepare a detailed report including the following:

  • Recommendation of an engine (Diesel or Petrol engine- ANY ONE) with justification Broad specification of the car may be assumed with justifications based on the above review. The engine capacity and main features of the engine should be suggested.
  • Identification of the requirements of a fuel system and suggestion of main components of the fuel system for the proposed engine. (List and discuss both mechanical and electronic components required to configure the fuel system. Broad specifications would add value.)
  • A complete schematic of the fuel system proposed with all the components shown in their relative positions followed by a detailed explanation.
