How Inadequate Breast Milk cause protein energy malnutrition?

Though prolonged breastfeeding of children is the rule in US, the amount of breast milk secreted in poor Indian mothers is lower than either normal women or those of developed countries. In other words, the infants may not be consuming adequate breast milk leading to inadequate nutrition.
