How does TCP achieve reliability?

One of the most significant technologies is retransmission. While TCP stands data the sender compensates for packet loss through implementing a retransmission scheme. Both sides of the communication participate. While TCP receives data, this sends it acknowledgements back to the sender.

Whenever this sends data, TCP begins a timer. If the timer expires before an acknowledgement appears, the sender retransmits the data. The demonstrated figure shows retransmission.

TCP's retransmission scheme is the input to its success since this handles communication across an arbitrary Internet and permits multiple application programs to communicate simultaneously.
