The Progressive Era (1900-1920), the Republican 20s (1921-1933) and the New Deal (1933- 1940) switched back and forth between "big government" activism and reforms on the one hand "small-government" conservatism and "return to normalcy" on the other. Both approaches left their marks on American Civilization. How do you account for these drastic changes? Discuss
