Proteins can be classified based on: 

  • Shape and size: fibrous or globular proteins.
  • Functional properties: Immuno, contractile, respiratory, structural, enzymatic, hormonal and carrier proteins.
  • Solubility and physical properties: Simple, conjugated and derived proteins.
