You have been hired as the Director of HIM for Runnels-Poplar General Hospital, which is a new 250-bed facility that opens in six months. You are responsible for determining and designing the HIM functions for the hospital. Discuss the detailed ways in which you would use the functions of management to achieve the development of this department from the ground up. Also, discuss HIM-related elements you would include such as design and location within the hospital, types of positions and salary ranges, types of reports that will be produced by the department, names of policies and procedures and specific areas within the department. Prepare your discussion in the form of an executive summary or an administrative report. You may include other elements as this is not an all inclusive list.
