governors, Mechanical Engineering

Assignment Help:
The spring controlled governor of the Hartung type has two rotating masses each of 2.5kg and the limits of their radius of rotation are 100 mm and 125 mm. The each mass is directly controlled by a spring attached to it and to the inner governor. The stiffness of the spring is 8 KN/m and the force on the spring, when their masses are in their mid-position, is 320N. In addition, there is an equivalent constant inward radial force of 80N acting on each revolving mass in order to allow for the dead weight of mechanism. Neglecting friction, find the range of speed of the gonernor.
