Give Some examples of minerals used in everyday life?
There are many minerals that are used in everyday life. We will discuss a few common examples of minerals and how they are used commercially.
In the United States of America, the mineral oil is welled in many locations with obvious economic value. Gold is also found in many of the mountainous Western states, like California and Colorado. Salt is a mineral, mentioned in prior lessons, which is mined from deposits of halite, or can be produced from drying salty sea water.
There are two terms to know here: An ore is a rock which contains an economically profitable percentage of valuable minerals which can be processed. An example is iron ore, which is a red colored rock which, when melted, releases iron (Fe) used to make steel.
The second term is mineral resources, which are the endowment of useful minerals available commercially to a country. The USA has one of the largest and most diverse endowments of minerals of any developed nation, which is a main factor explaining America's dominance in the World's economy.
