Give explanation about the use of SSL to secure the network.

SSL stands for Secure Sockets Layer is a protocol developed through Netscape for transmitting private documents through the Internet. Secure Sockets Layer works by using a private key to encrypt data which is transferred over the Secure Sockets Layer connection. Both Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator support Secure Sockets Layer and several Web sites utilize the protocol to acquire confidential user information, as like credit card numbers.
