Karen Lavale, the Human Resource Manager of Mika Ltd, recently called a meeting with Vik Shah, the Marketing Manager, in view of clarifying some issues which she deemed important. It had been observed that during the last year, the rate of absenteeism in the Marketing department had doubled, and that several employees had resigned. Many of the younger workers have been complaining about the lack of direction and support given by Vik. He rarely talked to the marketing staff except to give instructions, and could not understand why they were unhappy when they were being paid a good salary.
However, the meeting did not prove fruitful, and resulted in Vik Shah's decision to resign.
