What are function points?

The FPA is breaking huge systems into smaller pieces and analyzing them. The Software application is a combination of set of elementary processes. The EP is the smallest unit of activity that is meaningful to the user. The EP must be self contained and leave the application in a consistent state. The Elementary process is not necessarily completely independent or can exist by itself. But it must leave the application in a consistent state.
