Using a specific company as an example, discuss the use of product costing systems in modern organisations.

Note that only one group will be allowed to use any particular company so you must get approval from the lecturer for your company choice before starting your report.

Assessment criteria and marking guide:

Assessment will be based on the criteria set out in this subject guide. This assignment will help develop the skills needed for formal written communication in a business setting, as well as organising information in a structured format.

To successfully complete the assignment students should read and review literature from various sources, including:

1. Relevant chapters from Langfield-Smith et al.

2. Accounting journals (see a basic list below). These can be accessed as e-journals via the library web page.

3. On-line databases (click the 'Databases' link on the library webpage). A good data base to search is ABI/INFORM global.
