Question

While select screw pumps in polder scheme projects, what are factors that affect design facility of screw pumps?

Answer

Commonly used angles of inclination for screw pumps are 30o, 35o and 38o. For screw pumps of relatively high copying head, like over 6.5m, angle of leaning of 38o is usually used. Though, for relatively lower head and high discharge requirement, angle of leaning of 30o shall be selected. In wide-ranging, for a given ability and lifting head, screw pump diameter is smaller and its length is longer for a screw pump of 30o inclination while compared with a screw pump of 38o inclination.
To add to discharge capacity of screw pumps, a well-built number of flights have to be selected. In fact, screw pumps with 2 flights are more economical that with 3 flights in terms of competence and manufacturing fee. Furthermore, discharge capacity is also determined by screw pump diameter and sizes of 300mm to 5000mm are obtainable in recent market.
