From the very beginning, women have played a central role in American history. We can think of women such as Pocahontas, Anne Hutchinson, Abigail Adams, Sacjawea, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Lucretia Mott, Magaret Fuller, Dorothea Dix, Harriet Beecher Stowe and many others. In very different ways women have added to and enriched our history and our culture, sometimes by challenging the ways we lived and thought. Choose any three of these women and in 600-700 words talk about what you think they added to our culture and our history. What were their contributions to American history? How important were they in the overall history of this country?
