Q. Explain Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus?
It is the most common form of diabetes accounting for 90-95% of patients with diabetes. Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus was previously called as Non Insulin Dependent Diabetes Mellitus (NIDDM). It is common in women with a previous history of gestational diabetes mellitus (increased blood sugar in pregnancy) and in patients with hypertension (high blood pressure) and dyslipidemia (abnormal level of serum lipids) and family history of diabetes.
