Explain the working of a demultiplexer, Computer Engineering

Assignment Help:

Explain the working of a demultiplexer with the help of an example.

Ans:

1:4 Demultiplexer: Fig.(a) demonstrates the logic circuit of a 1:4 demultiplexer. This has two NOT gates, one data input line, 4 AND gates, 2 select lines (S0,S1) and four output lines (D0, D1,D2,D3). The data input line feeds each AND gates. Though, the two select lines enable simply one gate at one time. If S1S0= 00 then the data goes to D0. if S1S0= 01, so the data goes to D1. If S1S0 = 10, so the data goes to D2 and if S1S0= 1, so the data goes to D3.
