Give the format of Ethernet frame and explain the semantics of each field.
An Ethernet frame starts with headers which have three fields. The 64-bit preamble, which precedes the frame, consists alternating of 1's and 0's which allows the receiver's hardware to synchronize along with the incoming signal.
Figure: Illustration of the frames format utilized with Ethernet. The number into each field provides the size of field measured in 8-bit octants.
The First two fields of the header hold the physical addresses. The third field of the header contains 16- bit Ethernet frame type.
