Explain the Principle of screw conveyer

When materials are feed into the fixed chutes, due to action of gravity of materials and the friction force between material and chute the material stacked at the bottom of chute don't rotate with screw but, only move forward under the pushing force of spiral blades. Eventually to achieve the purpose of delivery material.
