Explain the neuritic type of infantile beriberi?

It is also referred to as Wernicke korsakoff syndrome or cerebral beriberi. It shows typical manifestations of peripheral neuropathy, tenderness of calf muscles, diminished tendon jerks. The accent is predominantly on the central nervous system (CNS) with sensorial alteration (irritability, apathy, drowsiness and coma) signs of raised intracranial tension, staring expression and varying degrees of neurologic deficit.
