Explain the Nerve Roots
Each nerve is attached to the medulla spinalis by two roots, an anterior or ventral, and a posterior or dorsal. The anterior nerve root consists of motor nerve fibres which are the axons of nerve cells.
The axons of nerve cells are in the anterior column of the gray matter in the spinal cord. In the thoracic and lumbar region, sympathetic nerve fibres which are axons of cells, is in the lateral columns of gray matter.
