Explain the Ketone bodies -  abnormal constituent of urine

Ketone body is an intermediate breakdown product of fats in the body. It can be any of three compounds (acetoacetic acid, acetone and/ or beta-hydroxybutyric acid) found in excess in blood and urine of persons with metabolic disorders. These three compounds may be excreted in the urine in severe diabetes mellitus or in prolonged starvation due to the impairment of the carbohydrate metabolism.
