Flexibility Exercises and Examples

In  flexibility exercises, movable joints allow one or more of the following types of movements.

Flexion - Flexion decreases the joint angle e.g. bending the head forward, bending the arm at the elbow or curling fingers

Extension - Extension is the reverse from the flexion. It means extension increases the joint angle e.g. bending the head backward, extend the elbow by straightening the arm

Abduction - Abduction is outside movement away from the midline of the body e.g. abduct the shoulder by raising the arm to the side until it is above the head, palm facing downward
