Q. Explain the Design discharge for bridge waterway?

Design discharge for bridge waterway should be a flood of 50 year frequency. For very large bridges damage to which is likely to affect railway traffic over a long period, the design of waterway should preferably be based on the maximum probable flood to be determined from data obtainable from the Meteorological Department.
