To remove a microorganism by phagocytosis requires phagocytes at the right place in the right time. The organism should adhere to the phagocyte. This is known as the complement system. Complement system contains about 20 proteins, when triggered can enter into cascade reaction (occurs one after the other sequentially, with a number of factors).
