Explain the chemical properties of insulating materials.
Chemical properties-
Chemical resistance: Presence of gases, acids, water, alkalies and salts influences different insulators in a different way. Chemically a material is a better insulator if this resists chemical action.
Hygroscopicity: Several insulators come in contact with the atmosphere throughout manufacture or operation or both. Moisture influences the electrical properties of the insulator.
Effect of contact with other materials: Insulation remains in contact with various types of materials as air, moisture, gases, structural materials and conducting materials. It can adversely influence the insulating properties.
Ageing: Ageing is the long time effect of heat, chemical action, and voltage application. These factors decide the natural life of an insulator.
Revision of Basics Although it is assumed in this book that the reader has enough knowledge of various number systems ( binary, octal and hexadecimal and their relation
Q. Three loads in parallel are supplied by a single phase 400-V, 60-Hz supply: Load A: 10 kVA at 0.8 leading power factor Load B: 15 kW at 0.6 lagging power factor Load C:
The torque produced by each conductor in the field will be: where A is the area of the armature winding in the magnetic field, Ia is the current in armature winding, and B
Q . Materials that can store electrical energy are called (A) magnetic materials. (B) semi conductors. (C) dielectric materials. (D) super conductors. Ans: C
why bypass capacitor is used
Fermi Level Electrons in solids obey Fermi-Dirac (FD) statistics. This statistics accounts for the indistinguishability of the electrons, their wave nature, and the
Measurements made on the self-biased n-channel JFET shown in Figure are V GS =-1 V, I D = 4 mA; V GS =-0.5V, I D = 6.25 mA; and V DD = 15 V. (a) Determine V P and I DSS .
What makes them sine? Ans) Fourier tells that only a sine wave has no harmonic content. The math works out that if you have any wave shape other than a sign wave, you can brea
Q. A shift register can be used as a binary (a) divide by-2, and (b) multiply-by-2 counter. Explain. Show a block diagram of a 4-bit shift-right register using JKFFs.
