Explain the basic method of paging method, Operating System

Assignment Help:

Explain the basic method of paging method.

Physical memory is divided into the fixed-sized blocks called frames. Logical memory is as well divided into blocks of the same size called pages. When a process is to be implemented, its pages are loaded in to any available memory frames from the backing store. Each address produced by the CPU is divided into two parts: a page offset (d) and a page number (p). The page number is used like the index into a page table. The page table holds the base address of each page in physical memory. This base address is combined along with the page offset to define the physical memory address that is sent to the memory unit.
