Tertiary Butylhydroquinone (TBHQ)

TBHQ is moderately soluble in oil and slightly soluble in water. In many cases, TBHQ is more effective than any other antioxidant in providing oxidative stability to crude and refined polyunsaturated oils, without problem of colour or flavour stability. TBHQ is also reported to exhibit good carry - through characteristics in the frying of potato chips.
