Explain SNMP (simple network management protocol).

Once SNMP is used the management station sends a request to an agent asking this for commanding or information this to update its state.

SNMP describes seven messages which can be sent. The given six messages form an initiator.

Get - request - requests the value of one or extra variables

Get -next- request - requests the value of subsequent variable

Get -bulk-request - utilized for large transfer as tables

Set- request - updates one or extra variables

Inform- request - permits the manager to update an agent's variables

SnmpV2-t rap - Agent to manager trap report.
