Set Intersection
Suppose your school needs to know which students are taking both art and business this year. If A is the set of students taking art and B is the set of students taking business, then the students who are taking both classes are common to A and B, or the intersection of A and B.

The intersection of two sets A and B, written A ∩ B, is the set of all elements which are common to both A and B. This can be written as. 

A ∩ B = { x| x ∈ A and x ∈ B }

The key word in this definition is and. The elements must be in both A and B.
