Right hand Rule:

James clark Maxwell proposed a rule to search the direction of magnetic lines of force around a wire carrying current.  This rule states.

"If a current carrying conductor is grasped in the Right hand in like as way that the thumb pointing in the direction of current, the fingers will circle around the conductor in the direction of current, the finger will circle around the conductor in the direction of magnetic field."
